Looperwerk is not a corporation where the marketing department decides whether sustainability is important or not, but a one-man business, and I believe that careful use of resources is important. Below is a brief overview of the measures I have taken.
High quality components
All the sustainability in production is for nothing if, for example, the footswitch breaks after a few years and it costs more to buy a new one than to repair it.
That is why I only use components that have been tried and tested over many years - I have worked constantly over the last 10 years to improve the reliability and durability of my products.
If a product does break (the rate is well below 1%), I am happy to repair it!
Thoughtful design
Many of my products have multiple uses. If your setup changes in a few years and you no longer need a product as originally intended, it may solve another problem on your pedalboard and save you from having to buy a new one.
Short transport routes
Work steps that I cannot do myself (such as laser cutting and powder coating aluminum sheets) are done by regional companies in nearby towns.
Packaging & Shipping
I try to create as little packaging waste as possible. I reuse the boxes from most of the parcels I receive and use either received packing material or old newspapers as filling material.
Products are not packed individually in outer cartons but in thin ziplock bags.
Wherever possible (invoices, accounting, etc.) I use recycled paper.
Shipping is always carbon-neutral (by offsetting the resulting CO2 emissions) with DHL GoGreen.
