Use in the effects loop to tame a cranked amp
- Keep the response and tone in your amp's "sweet spot" at a lower volume
Taming a loud tube amplifier does not always require bulky and expensive attenuators and load boxes.
Run the Volume Control Box through your amp's serial effects loop and control the amount of signal you send to your amp's power amp. This allows you to push the amp's preamp for a natural feel and tone, while bringing the volume down to bedroom levels.
The Volume Control Box also solves the common problem of an extremely sensitive master volume knob on your amp, or allows you to control the amp's master volume from the pedalboard.
The input and output are on the top of the enclosure - this is great if the Volume Control Box is to be placed on top of the amp, but also takes up little space on the pedalboard. For vertical mounting on the pedalboard (sockets on the left or sockets on the right), a allen key is included with which the knob can be turned so that it still shows the correct value.
The Volume Control Box is low impedance and expects a buffered signal - it can be used in an amp's effects loop or even after a buffer before an amp's preamp, then it reduces the signal going into the amp's preamp.
WARNING:
Never place the Volume Control Box between your amp's power amplifier and the speaker, this would damage your amp. Use only with a serial effects loop, with a parallel effects loop the Volume Control Box does not produce the desired effect.
